GIVING BACK

One of the ways we managed to reach the mountaintop of greatness is through the help of others. Now that we’re on top, the Class of ’94 has dedicated itself to returning the favor. Here are some charities affiliated with our class that you can support as a way to give back to our classmates and the community we grew up in.

Katie Hewson Memorial Fund

In 2007,  our own Jaime Hewson lost her sister Katie to a tragic accident. She was only 27. Those who knew the Wachusett grad described her as a woman with tremendous character and spirit. Her life was filled with joy, love and a desire to see the world, traveling to Africa, Ireland and the Virgin Islands, among other places. Since 2007, Jaime and her friends and family have raised money towards a scholarship fund in Katie’s memory. Funds raised go to a WRHS student or graduate who plans to study International Business at a two- or four-year college or who plans to participate in a study abroad program.

Laurie C. Tinsley Memorial Scholarship 

The same month we graduated, Pat Tinsley and his six brothers lost their mother. She was only 44. A scholarship fund was created in her memory and scholarship are given annually to a young man or woman who has encountered financial hardship due to the death or disability of a parent. To donate to the scholarship, send a check to the fund c/o Greater Worcester Community Foundation, 44 Front St., Worcester, MA 01608.

Wachusett Food Pantry

Since 2006, our class has collected donations of food and money every holiday season for the Wachusett Food Pantry. We have collected over $1,800 worth of money and 100 bags worth of groceries that have gone directly to support those struggling to stay in their homes in the Wachusett area.

We will be collecting donations once again at our Lucky 21 Reunion, but you can always donate to the pantry at any time of year. A list of items the pantry can always use can be found by clicking this link. Learn more about the pantry by clicking this link.
